Excursion Synopsis
Students will investigate changes in the environment over time and the evolution of organisms by catching a rock pool animal to study and searching for their own fossil to examine.
Introduced species and some of their impacts on the Australian environment will be discussed. Native and introduced plants in the sand dunes will be identified using a key and abiotic factors such as soil moisture & pH will be measured to discuss their influence on the distribution of these species.
An introduced plant and animal will be closely studied to identify reasons for their success, the impacts they have on the environment and the control measures used to manage these introduced species.
